The New Year Has Started,
NOW WHAT?

As we approached the start of 2020, I was sharing with my business coach that I always regretted the lull in business activity during the Holiday season. You know. That time of year when everyone says, “I can’t meet now because ….” or their automated email reply or voicemail message goes something like, “I’m sorry, I’m out of the office and won’t return until …”.

My coach brought up a great point. While all business owners and leaders should have a focus of working “on” their business, rather than “in” their business, it’s most critical that they do this in the 4th quarter. It’s the best time to prepare for a successful new year.

Therefore, my focus should be on my own business planning. He reminded me that this was the best time to work “on” my business Plans, Goals, and Dashboards. Well, I did. And January has had terrific start! The good news is, I planned for it and was ready to capitalize on the efforts.

If you didn’t get this done, START NOW!! And remember, when it comes to goals there are 2 key effectiveness tests. They should be SMART goals. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time Bound. Once you have your goals written, be sure you can answer the Who, What, When, Where, and How questions for each of them. Now you’ve got a good start.

So, did you get ready for 2020? Do you have a clear direction with goals and a plan? Remember at the end of January 8% of 2020 will already be over? If you didn’t get the chance to get ready, START NOW!!
