About Richard Barbercheck

As a trusted advisor, Richard works with community business owners and professionals to develop and implement effective strategies,  achieve and exceed goals, build effective teams, and focus on regaining control of their business. He brings forty years of experience in analyzing thousands of businesses in a variety of industries, identifying their strategies, and working with them to achieve success even if they are navigating through challenging times.

Throughout his career, Richard developed expertise in financial analysis, business development, business administration, policy, operations, and risk management, as well as providing leadership to three organizations as president and assisting in numerous acquisitions leading to successful cultural and business integrations. In the fall of 2016, he culminated his career as the Corporate Chief Credit Officer for First Financial Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Richard brings proven expertise in performance improvement, strategic planning, and change management.

He is an exciting and inspiring public speaker and as a Certified Business Coach, Consultant and Trainer, Richard is committed to helping business owners and professionals achieve success. Richard has been active in the community as a Board Member and Council Training Chair for the Dan Beard Council Boy Scouts of America. He has been active in the  Association for Corporate Growth, Financial Executives International, West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance, Clermont and Northern Kentucky Chambers of Commerce and the Covington Business Council. He is currently on the Board for the Cincinnati Better Business Bureau and is an Advisory Board Member for Prestige Properties.

Richard’s Personal Leadership Philosophy

This Leadership Philosophy presents my perspective and approach with clients in regards to life values, business culture, and being a successful team member. The philosophy describes my approach to leadership,  what you should expect from me, and what I expect from you. It is provided so that you may have a clear understanding of our culture to have a successful relationship with Strategic Orientation.
This Leadership Philosophy has been developed through my involvement with people that create phenomenal results and those that create miserable failures. My leadership style is predominantly collaborative but is also able to successfully function through the use of delegation and direction. I believe leadership is about guiding others to achieve goals and objectives.
As a strategic thinker that looks at each situation in relation to the achievement of objectives, I hold myself accountable for my own actions and behaviors, and for providing guidance to facilitate the success of others.

My Leadership Approach

  • Fosters the maximum achievement of your individual and organizational potential through communication, collaboration, and responsibility for outcomes.
  • Encompasses open communication and recognition of results.
  • Encourages that all appropriate individuals are informed on the position of the company as it relates to the situation at hand.
  • Utilizes planning whenever possible to ensure appropriate outcomes as they relate to your goals and your path to achieving them.
  • Expects results, and that KPI and KRI performance are measured and reported in a manner that allows you to course correct timely, while achieving objectives.

I Value

  • Honesty. In order for someone to be honest with others they must first be honest with themselves. They must embrace the truth even when it is difficult to do so.
  • Integrity. Individuals should always be genuine in their efforts and do what they say they’ll do.
  • Ethical Behavior. It encompasses doing the right thing, for the right reason, all the time.
  • Respect. Respect for others is founded in recognizing an individual’s value without labels. It is critical for all of us to seek first to understand before our desire to be understood. We have a responsibility to seek and provide feedback that benefits ourselves and others in our personal and professional growth.
  • Perseverance. Even in  the face of adversity, we should keep moving forward, learn from our mistakes, and continue on, recognizing that we are on the verge of our next success.
  • Positive Attitude. Attitude will always win out over skills and knowledge, regardless of whether the attitude is positive or negative.

I Believe

  • That everyone should be responsible to themselves and others, and that responsibility includes taking ownership of failures and weaknesses as well as successes and strengths.
  • That none of us are as smart as all of us and that no one is the “smartest person in the room”.
  • That all people have God-given value and talents and have a responsibility to utilize their abilities to the maximum benefit of the team.
  • In helping others succeed and that it is the responsibility of others to do the same.
  • In an abundance mindset, where there will always be enough for everybody as opposed to one of scarcity that drives individuals to protect their turf and ideas, as well as limit their contributions.
  • That what happens in our lives is not as important as how we choose to react to it.

I Will NOT Tolerate

  • Dishonesty represented as an outright lie, coloring of the truth, or restricting salient facts from disclosure.
  • Disrespect from, or of, others. A lack of respect can be represented in a number of ways and when identified it will be addressed immediately.
  • A lackadaisical approach to one’s responsibilities. I expect everyone to contribute a sincere effort. Laziness, or an aloof attitude is unacceptable.
  • The need for an oversized degree of attention due to exaggerated egos and high levels of self-importance.
